Halle Berry, the acclaimed actress, recently revealed her struggles with menopause and how it impacted her sex life. The 58-year-old star candidly discussed her fears and challenges during a panel at a Bare It All event focused on women’s health, where she partnered with fellow celebrity Christina Aguilera.

Berry disclosed that she first experienced symptoms of menopause at the age of 54 but was surprised that none of her doctors had informed her about it. This lack of awareness led her to believe that she could possibly bypass this phase altogether. However, as she delved deeper into menopause, she realized the impact it was having on her intimate life, particularly due to vaginal dryness.
Menopause can bring about vaginal dryness or atrophy, a condition where the vaginal lining thins due to decreased estrogen levels. This can result in discomfort, itching, and painful intercourse. Berry expressed her initial worries, feeling like she may never regain the full enjoyment of her femininity and intimacy, especially after meeting her partner, Van Hunt.
Her personal struggles prompted Berry to take action and create Respin Health, a women’s wellness company aimed at normalizing conversations about menopause and offering support and education to women going through similar challenges. She emphasized the importance of sharing experiences and knowledge to empower women to take control of their health.
Through her journey, Berry found solace in collaborating with Colette Courtion and Dr. Sarah de la Torre, CEOs of Joylux, a wellness company specializing in women’s intimate care products. Together, they developed a lubricating gel and an intimacy device focusing on pelvic floor health, which assisted Berry in reclaiming her intimacy and sex life.
Berry’s dedication to advocating for women’s health and destigmatizing conversations around menopause was evident during the panel. She urged women to be bold, speak up, and refuse to be silenced or shamed about their bodies and experiences. By encouraging open dialogue and mutual support, Berry hopes to empower women to prioritize their well-being and address issues that have been overlooked for too long.
As she continues her journey through menopause and beyond, Berry remains committed to raising awareness and challenging societal norms that dictate silence and shame around women’s health issues. Her bravery and resilience serve as an inspiration to women everywhere, reminding them that they are worthy of care, understanding, and support during every stage of life. Berry’s advocacy highlights the importance of education, empowerment, and solidarity in navigating the complexities of menopause and ensuring that women’s voices are heard and valued.
