Winfrey herself refuted any claims of discord with Henson during the 2024 Golden Globes, clarifying that she had been a strong advocate for Henson and the film. She dismissed the rumours, explaining that as a producer, she did not have control over the budget, which falls under the purview of Warner Bros. Winfrey reiterated her support for the project and the individuals involved, including Henson.

In her interview on The Breakfast Club, Henson also responded to reports linking her and Winfrey’s alleged feud to the box office performance of ‘The Color Purple’. Despite the initial success of the film with a substantial domestic opening, grossing $18 million, it experienced a decline in subsequent weeks, accumulating a total of $60.6 million domestically.
