Shemar Moore, a familiar face from the popular TV show ‘S.W.A.T.’, may soon be joined by more stars from the series in an upcoming spinoff. The executive at Sony Pictures Television revealed that discussions are ongoing about the potential involvement of other beloved characters from ‘S.W.A.T.’ in the new show titled ‘EXILES’.

The announcement of the spinoff came shortly after the finale of ‘S.W.A.T.’ aired last month, following its third cancellation at CBS. Currently, Shemar Moore is the only confirmed star to transition to the spinoff, reprising his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. Fans of ‘S.W.A.T.’ are eagerly anticipating the possibility of seeing more familiar faces from the original series in the upcoming spinoff, ‘EXILES’.

Keith LeGoy, the chairman of Sony Pictures Television, mentioned at the Banff TV Festival that they are still in the process of determining the extent of involvement of fan-favorite characters from ‘S.W.A.T.’ in ‘EXILES’. He emphasised the importance of the ‘S.W.A.T.’ family and expressed a desire to potentially include other cast members in some capacity.

In ‘EXILES’, Shemar Moore’s character, Hondo, will come out of retirement to lead an experimental S.W.A.T. unit after a high-profile mission goes awry. The show will explore themes of teamwork, as Hondo mentors a group of inexperienced recruits to become a cohesive and effective team capable of protecting the city.

Notably, Katherine Pope, the president of Sony Pictures Television, also hinted that viewers can expect to see some familiar faces from ‘S.W.A.T.’ making appearances in ‘EXILES’. She indicated that the spinoff and the original series exist within the same universe, suggesting potential crossovers and connections between the two shows.

After news of the spinoff broke, Shemar Moore took to social media to express his excitement, likening himself to the “Tom Brady of S.W.A.T.”. David Lim, who portrayed Victor Tan on ‘S.W.A.T.’, expressed disappointment at feeling overlooked by the announcement and reflected on the contributions of the original cast to the show.
