A man was apprehended for allegedly making a fake bomb threat after missing his flight with Spirit Airlines at Detroit Airport, as per the United States Attorney’s Office. Charles Robinson, aged 23, intended to journey from Detroit Metropolitan Airport to Los Angeles on June 5 but failed to board the flight. Upon being informed at the gate that he needed to reschedule, Robinson purportedly phoned Spirit Airlines around 6:25 a.m. to convey information about a supposed threat involving an individual planning to detonate a bomb at the airport or on flight 2145.

Following the call, the flight was promptly halted, and both passengers and crew were evacuated from the aircraft for safety measures. Despite a thorough search conducted by bomb-sniffing dogs and FBI agents revealing no explosives, the situation caused significant disruption and distress to those involved. When Robinson returned to the airport for an alternate flight, he was taken into custody by authorities and subsequently appeared in federal court, where he was granted release on bond pending his next court appearance scheduled for June 27.

The plane was subjected to thorough police inspections and clearance, leading to further delays before passengers were allowed to reboard and finally resume their journey to Los Angeles.
