A New Jersey man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the aggravated manslaughter of Miguel Martinez III, whose disappearance and subsequent death shocked the local community. Michael A. Zappley, 69, of Westville, was sentenced on September 18, 2023, nearly a decade after the crime took place in 2016.

The case surrounding Martinez’s disappearance began on June 15, 2016, when his family reported him missing.
