British Man Sentenced to 30 years for Attempted Murder of 9-Year-Old Girl

A British man with a chilling fascination with child murders has been handed a 30-year prison sentence for the attempted murder of a 9-year-old girl playing outside his residence. Jordan Wilkes, 29, was found guilty on March 7 for one count of attempted murder and one count of possessing a bladed article following the harrowing incident that took place in Christchurch, Dorset, in August 2024, as reported by the BBC.
The young girl and her friend were innocently playing in the stairwell of the building where Wilkes resided when he emerged from his flat and viciously stabbed her with a penknife in her jaw, shoulder, and knee, according to police statements cited by the BBC. Prosecuting attorney Berenice Mulvanny revealed in court that during the attack, Wilkes even pulled out a clump of hair from the girl’s head, which he kept as a disturbing “trophy” until his mother compelled him to discard it, as detailed in The Guardian.
The girl was swiftly rushed to the hospital to receive urgent treatment for the serious stab wounds inflicted by Wilkes. Mulvanny stated to the BBC that the girl was perilously close to severing major arteries when she was stabbed in the neck, revealing the extreme danger she was in during the attack. Following Wilkes’ arrest, investigators made a shocking discovery on his phone – 69 files containing videos, news articles, and podcasts about child murders, including the brutal stabbing murders of three young girls in Southport, England, in July 2024.
One of the Southport victims, Bebe King, only 6 years old, tragically suffered 122 stab wounds, while the second victim, Elsie Dot, endured 85 knife wounds. The judge presiding over Wilkes’ case deemed him a “dangerous offender” and directly linked his morbid interest in child murders to the heinous attack on the innocent 9-year-old girl. In the court’s judgment reported by The Guardian, the judge unequivocally stated, “You had an interest in child-killing, and you decided to try it out for yourself.”
In addition to the 30-year prison sentence, which will run concurrently with a two-year term for possession of a bladed article, Wilkes has also been mandated to serve a five-year probation period.
