In a wedding tale like no other, Jess and Ladis Hoefkens decided to kick off their marital journey with a thrilling twist by skiing down Mont Brévant in Chamonix, France, right after exchanging their vows in an intimate ceremony on the mountain peak. The daring couple embraced adventure and adrenaline as they made their way down the snowy slopes, standing at a majestic 8,000 feet elevation.
The extraordinary event saw Jess gracefully skiing down the mountain in her elegant wedding dress, while Ladis followed suit in a dashing tuxedo. A party of 15 close friends and family members joined in the post-nuptial ski descent, creating a unique and unforgettable wedding celebration amidst the picturesque snow-capped French Alps.

Jess shared her exhilarating experience with the New York Post, describing the moment as “amazing” and acknowledging the unusual thrill of skiing in a wedding gown. The unconventional ceremony left a lasting impression on everyone present, with Jess recounting how the guests are still reminiscing about the magical and extraordinary wedding celebration they witnessed atop the snow-laden mountain.
The Hoefkens couple’s decision to combine their love for skiing with their marriage festivities was a manifestation of their shared passion for the sport. Originally meeting online in 2019, the couple bonded over their mutual adoration for skiing. After Ladis proposed to Jess in 2022, the bride expressed her desire for a mountain wedding, a wish that culminated beautifully on Mont Brévant in a heart-stopping and unique ceremony.

Organising a mountainside wedding presented its challenges, but the couple opted for an intimate gathering with only 20 guests to ensure a personal and meaningful experience. Despite the logistical hurdles, the remote location did not deter them from honouring wedding traditions. The couple’s ascent to the mountain was facilitated by two ski lifts, with Jess noting how the second lift broke through the clouds, adding a touch of magic to their special day.
The sight of Jess gracefully skiing down the mountain in her white wedding dress evoked a sense of wonder and admiration, encapsulating the spirit of adventure and romance that defined their union. The groom, Ladis, confessed to watching the video of his bride’s ski descent multiple times, cherishing the memory and the unique beginning to their married life together.
Jess, a fitness coach with a deep-rooted connection to the mountains, revealed that she has spent numerous seasons in Chamonix and hails from a family of mountain enthusiasts. Her wedding attire, including the dress made by her mother, embodied both elegance and functionality, allowing her to ski down the slopes effortlessly on her special day.
Witnessing the Hoefkens couple’s unconventional and breathtaking wedding celebration reminds us that love knows no bounds and that couples can create their unique story that truly reflects their passions and personalities. Their daring downhill journey symbolised not just a descent into married life but also an ascent into a future filled with adventure, love, and shared exploits.
