Drake University in Iowa recently hosted its 46th Annual Beautiful Bulldog Contest, and the winner for 2025 has been announced. Milo, a 7-year-old English bulldog from North Liberty, Iowa, emerged victorious, capturing hearts and taking home the top prize. The contest, a beloved tradition at Drake University, saw Milo decked out in a soccer player costume, complete with shin guards, a blue and white jersey, and a soccer ball, showcasing the university’s spirit.

Milo’s owners, Kayla Armstrong and Cole Henry, have a strong connection to Drake University. Armstrong, an alumna of the university and a former soccer player, drew inspiration from her time at Drake to create Milo’s winning outfit. Apart from his sporty pursuits, Milo enjoys indulging in treats, playing with his brother, Fischer, and unwinding with some TV time, particularly enjoying Animal Planet shows and Jimmy Dean breakfast commercials.
As the winner of the Beautiful Bulldog Contest, Milo now holds the prestigious title of Drake Relays mascot for the university, serving as the Most Beautiful Bulldog for the upcoming year. His coronation at the contest was marked by a regal ceremony on stage, where he was adorned with a gold and blue crown and a matching cape. While Milo takes on his new mascot duties, Griff II, the official live mascot of Drake University, continues to represent the school as well.
Among the other notable participants in the contest was Kevin, hailing from Des Moines, Iowa, who secured the first runner-up position and garnered both the Drake Spirit Award and the Porterhouse People’s Choice Award. Chloe, a stylish bulldog from Waukee, Iowa, claimed the second runner-up title, charming the audience with her blue Drake University shirt paired with a white tutu skirt and a pearl necklace.
Additionally, Evelyn from Clear Lake, Iowa, won the hearts of many with her Best Dressed Award-worthy attire, appearing as a floatie attached to her owner, who sported a matching boating outfit. Winston, a bulldog from Pleasant Hill, Iowa, received the Rescue Dog Award, recognising his remarkable story and contribution to the event.
The Beautiful Bulldog Contest has been a cherished tradition at Drake University for over four decades, taking place during the school’s Relays Week. Fans can explore the history of the contest and keep up with the latest updates on the Beautiful Bulldog Contest’s Facebook page and the university’s website.
