22-year-old Skyler Klassen and 21-year-old Madison Bishop are now at the centre of a criminal investigation following the arrest of Klassen on April 9 by officers from the Madison Police Department. It was reported that child sex abuse material was discovered on Klassen’s phone, alongside an active warrant related to similar charges in Nevada.

Allegations suggest that Klassen confessed to sexually assaulting Bishop’s infant daughter. Disturbingly, police found explicit photos of the baby’s genitals as well as a video showing the infant being digitally penetrated. These horrifying acts were suspected to have taken place on April 7.
Even more disturbingly, investigators allegedly found incriminating text messages between Klassen and Bishop discussing plans for sexually assaulting the child before her birth. The couple reportedly continued sharing graphic content of child sex abuse materials from other sources even after the baby was born.
The gravity of the situation intensified when Bishop was arrested on April 15 in connection with the case. She now faces charges of first-degree child sexual assault and failure to protect a child. Klassen, on the other hand, is confronted with multiple charges including sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child sex abuse material, first-degree sexual assault, and incest.
The legal proceedings are ongoing, and it remains to be seen if the defendants will enter any pleas in response to the charges. When approached for comment, the couple’s defence attorney refrained from making any statements. The Dane County District Attorney’s Office also declined to provide further details due to the active nature of the investigation and prosecution.
The heinous nature of the crimes alleged in this case has prompted authorities to remind the public of available resources for survivors of sexual assault. If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual abuse, assistance can be sought through the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) or via rainn.org. Alternatively, individuals can text “STRENGTH” to the Crisis Text Line at 741-741 for support from certified crisis counsellors.
Cases like this serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance in safeguarding the most vulnerable members of society. As the investigation continues and legal proceedings unfold, the community awaits justice for the innocent child at the heart of this distressing ordeal.
