Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, has made a heartwarming gesture by loaning out her wedding dress to brides in need. In a touching Instagram post on April 2, Blakely shared a video montage featuring pictures of nine different brides who had worn her wedding dress. She affectionately referred to this act of generosity as “the story of the sisterhood of the traveling wedding dress.”

Expressing her sentimental attachment to the dress, Blakely wrote, “I love the idea of one dress having different stories to tell of love and shared sisterhood. It’s a dress filled with good karma. 🌟 I feel a special tie to each and every woman who has worn it so far…. Nataly, Julie, LJ, Renata, Carmin, Loren, Stephanie, Jenna, and Shellie! What do you think… should we expand the sisterhood this year??”

Blakely had initially announced that she would be lending her dress to brides affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, she revealed in her recent post that this tradition had started even before 2020, and she is keen to continue passing on the dress to new brides in the future.
A formidable entrepreneur, Blakely, who established Spanx in 2000, has always been dedicated to supporting women in various ways. Prior to her own marriage to husband Jesse Itzler at the age of 37, she had served as a bridesmaid a remarkable 13 times. Now, as a mother of four, she continues to empower women through her brand.
In addition to her contributions to the bridal community, Blakely is known for her acts of kindness. In 2021, she went viral for gifting her predominantly female team first-class tickets to a destination of their choice. Her philanthropic efforts extend beyond just the wedding dress loan, as she recently called for support for brides impacted by natural disasters.
Following the Los Angeles wildfires in 2025 and the North Carolina floods caused by Hurricane Helene in September 2024, Blakely urged new brides affected by these events to reach out for assistance. Her compassion knows no bounds, and she aims to make a positive impact in the lives of those facing adversity.
Aside from Spanx, Blakely is also the brain behind Sneex, a distinctive brand specializing in sneaker heels. With her innovative spirit and altruistic nature, Sara Blakely continues to inspire and uplift those around her, proving that a simple act of kindness can go a long way in creating a chain of positivity and support.
This heartwarming story of generosity and sisterhood exemplifies the power of empathy and solidarity within the community. Sara Blakely’s selfless gesture serves as a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in the lives of others, spreading love and positivity wherever they go.
