A defamation lawsuit against rapper T.I. and his wife, Tiny, has recently been dismissed in a Los Angeles court after more than four years of legal battles. The lawsuit was filed in 2021 by Sabrina Peterson, an influencer and business coach, who accused T.I. of putting a gun to her head and threatening to kill her. The initial complaint by Peterson alleged that T.I. threatened her after she got into an altercation with the rapper’s assistant. Peterson later shared her experience on social media, which prompted a response from Tiny, who posted a photo of Peterson’s son and questioned her motives. Additionally, Shekinah Jones Anderson, a friend of T.I. and Tiny, made further accusations against Peterson on social media.
In response to these claims, T.I. issued a statement denying the allegations, stating that Peterson’s posts were false and defamatory. As a result of the social media exchange, Peterson received harassing and threatening messages, leading to emotional distress. Despite this, an appeals court rejected most of Peterson’s claims, leaving only defamation and invasion of privacy standing.
In a separate development, in December 2024, Peterson failed to pay the court-ordered legal fees, resulting in a contempt charge against her. During a recent court appearance, Peterson testified that she was unable to afford the sum and requested a payment plan to settle the debt. T.I.’s attorney argued for the dismissal of the case and for Peterson to be held in contempt, highlighting her alleged disrespect for the court’s orders.
In a twist, in December, T.I. filed his own defamation and invasion of privacy lawsuit against Peterson. He accused her of posting false and defamatory statements on Instagram, including claims about him being under federal investigation for sex trafficking. The legal feud between the parties has now come to a close following the dismissal of Peterson’s lawsuit.
