Olympic figure skating champion Peggy Fleming recently shared her thoughts with PEOPLE on the striking similarities between the recent U.S. figure skating tragedy and a devastating crash in 1961. The January 2025 incident claimed the lives of twenty-eight individuals within the figure skating community, while the 1961 crash in Europe resulted in the tragic loss of eighteen members.
