The 27-year-old track star responded to a user on a social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, who doubted her intelligence, saying, “Gabby Thomas doesn’t sound like she’s the brightest out there.” Thomas swiftly retorted, “You’re probably right 🤷🏽‍♀️ 😂 darn my Harvard degree,” highlighting her achievements.

However, the situation escalated as more individuals accused Thomas of fabricating her educational background. In a candid post, she addressed the racial bias underlying such assumptions, particularly targeting her as a Black woman. Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian also chimed in, denouncing the critics by labelling them as “Clowns, not people.” Thomas obtained a degree in neuroscience from Harvard in 2019, complemented by minors in global health and health policy. Additionally, in 2023, she accomplished a master’s degree in public health from the University of Texas at Austin, showcasing her dedication to academic excellence alongside her athletic pursuits.

Thomas’s crowning moment arrived on August 6, 2024, during the women’s 200-meter final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she clinched the gold medal.
