Karla Garcia, 29, Jacqueline’s mother, faces charges including murder with special circumstances, conspiracy to commit murder with special circumstances, improper disposal of a dead body, and intentional cruelty to a child under 19. Additionally, Jacqueline’s aunt, Jackelyn Garcia, 28, was arrested and charged with intentional cruelty to a child under 19, risk of injury to a child, and first-degree unlawful restraint. The aunt’s boyfriend, Jonatan Nanita, 30, was also taken into custody on a felony arrest warrant, accused of involvement in Jacqueline’s death.

As the investigation continues, authorities have revealed that Nanita allegedly brought the container holding the girl’s remains to the property on Clark St. on Oct. 8. Jacqueline, who was homeschooled, was under the care of the state Department of Children and Families (DCF), which is conducting a thorough review of its involvement with the family.
