The harrowing ordeal began when Erin Doguet, the dog’s owner, embarked on a trip to Colorado, leaving her cherished pets in the care of her sister Shannon and a dedicated pet sitter named Taelyn. The ranch, which backed up to the Medina River, was soon engulfed in floodwaters due to heavy rainfall, leading to Ziva’s disappearance on the Fourth of July.
Upon realising that Ziva was missing, Erin Doguet’s concern grew as she monitored the terrifying situation from afar. Equipped with Tractive GPS collars, both Ziva and Una, the livestock guardian dogs, were tracked by Doguet using the mobile app. This technology proved to be a lifesaver as Ziva’s whereabouts were pinpointed despite the chaos of the flooding.
With the help of the GPS collar and the Tractive app, Shannon and Taelyn tirelessly searched for Ziva, relying on the precise location data provided by Doguet. Despite the challenging conditions brought about by the flooding, the team persevered until they finally located Ziva, trapped in a flooded gully near the raging Medina River. The collar’s sound feature was vital in guiding them to the dog’s hidden location.
Ziva, who had spent approximately 16 hours in distress, was found tired but alive, awaiting rescue. The sheer relief and joy of discovering Ziva safe and sound brought tears to Doguet’s eyes. The dog, weighing 120 pounds, had endured a gruelling ordeal but managed to survive with minimal injuries.
Following her rescue, Ziva was reunited with Doguet, where she was able to recuperate and rest after the traumatic experience. The power of technology, combined with the dedication of Doguet’s sister and pet sitter, played a crucial role in ensuring Ziva’s safe return home.
The heartwarming tale of Ziva’s rescue serves as a reminder of the unbreakable bond between humans and their beloved pets, as well as the importance of preparedness in the face of unexpected challenges. This inspiring story of survival amidst adversity showcases the resilience and loyalty of man’s best friend, leaving a lasting impact on all those involved.
As Ziva basks in the comfort of her home, her miraculous rescue stands as a testament to the power of determination, love and unwavering hope in the face of adversity. The story of Ziva’s survival is a beacon of light in the darkness of the Texas flooding, offering a glimmer of hope and inspiration to all who hear her tale.
