Competitive eater Miki Sudo has once again claimed the title at the 2025 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. Sudo, who remains undefeated, devoured an impressive 33 hot dogs in just 10 minutes on Friday, July 4. Although this year’s count fell short of her own record of 51 dogs set in 2024, Sudo’s performance was enough to secure her 11th championship at the iconic Coney Island event. Michelle Lesco grabbed the second spot with 22.75 hot dogs, followed closely by Domenica Dee in third place with 22.5.
In an interview with ESPN following her victory, Sudo shared her thoughts on the competition, saying, “The hot dogs were great, the weather’s beautiful, the crowd had me going. I’m thinking the buns were more filling than usual. It’s OK. A win’s a win. Thank you for the support.” Despite facing challenges with the hot dogs not quite cooperating as she had hoped, Sudo expressed gratitude and excitement for clinching another win and walking away with a $10,000 prize.

Sudo has a remarkable track record at the Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest, previously securing the title from 2014 to 2020 and then from 2022 up to the present, excluding the year 2021 when she took a break due to pregnancy. The annual contest, a beloved Independence Day tradition held in Coney Island, saw Sudo’s victory shortly before Joey Chestnut, a prominent figure in the competitive eating world, reclaimed his title in the men’s competition by devouring a staggering 70.5 hot dogs.

While Chestnut’s absence in the prior year paved the way for Patrick Bertoletti to secure the mustard belt in 2024 with 58 hot dogs and buns, Chestnut’s triumphant return this year marked another memorable moment in hot dog eating history. Reflecting on his past victories, Chestnut recounted his unforgettable win in 2008 against Takeru Kobayashi, highlighting the intense competition and determination that led him to success.
As the day concluded with thrilling displays of competitive eating prowess from Sudo and Chestnut, spectators and fans alike were treated to a memorable showdown at the annual hot dog eating extravaganza. The event not only showcased the incredible talents of these seasoned eaters but also provided a moment of celebration and camaraderie on the Fourth of July, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to witness feats of skill and dedication.
The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest serves as a beacon of tradition and excitement, drawing crowds to Coney Island each year to witness record-breaking performances and unforgettable moments in competitive eating history. With Sudo’s latest victory adding to her impressive streak and Chestnut reclaiming his title, the stage is set for another thrilling chapter in the legacy of this iconic event, where champions are crowned and records are broken in the pursuit of culinary glory.
