Ayesha Curry, the co-founder of Domaine Curry, gave an exclusive interview to PEOPLE at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado. The culinary entrepreneur shared insights into her wine brand, her restaurant International Smoke, and how she continues to excel in the culinary world.

One of the highlights of the interview was Ayesha revealing how she prepares her husband, NBA star Stephen Curry, for game day. Over the years, her routine has evolved from cooking pasta dinners to crafting nutrient-packed breakfasts to cater to his changing fitness requirements.
Ayesha elaborated on the shifting dynamics, stating, “For the majority of his career, I would make a game day pasta, but then the past few years, that changed because he tweaked his workout regimen and needed different nutrients at different times.”
Despite her expertise in the kitchen, not everyone in the Curry household is as adventurous with their food choices. Ayesha humorously shared, “My oldest son, Cannon, who is six years old, is the pickiest eater. I have a mac and cheese kid. Is what it is!”
Alongside Steph, Ayesha also parents Riley, Ryan, and Caius. To unwind, she revels in outdoor activities such as hiking, a pursuit she has embraced more since relocating to the Bay Area.
Reflecting on the culinary landscape of the Bay Area, Ayesha expressed gratitude for the diverse food scene that has expanded her culinary horizons. She quipped, “It’s turned me into an absolute spoiled brat. It gave me this playground to truly create new dishes, to develop my palate, and I will forever be grateful to the Bay for that.”
Ayesha’s culinary creativity extends to her restaurant, International Smoke, where she collaborates with chef Michael Mina to offer internationally inspired barbecue dishes influenced by countries like Vietnam and Korea. While the Bay Area branch thrives, the other locations in Houston, Del Mar, and Las Vegas have closed.
Despite the challenges of the hospitality industry, Ayesha remains optimistic and appreciative of the journey she has undertaken. She acknowledges the industry’s tough nature but values the sense of family that emerges among team members. Ayesha credits her perseverance and camaraderie with her stepsister for the success of Domaine Curry over the past eight years.
Reflecting on her experience in the male-dominated wine industry, Ayesha encourages aspiring entrepreneurs to seek out and learn from the numerous talented women making strides in the field. Looking ahead, she anticipates celebrating her anniversary with Steph while continuing to nurture her businesses and offer empowering advice to her supporters.
As Ayesha Curry continues to inspire with her culinary ventures, her dedication to innovation and inclusivity shines through, making her a formidable force in the world of food and wine.
