However, the partnership did not yield the desired results, as Joel felt that the music produced began to sound more like Elton John’s signature style rather than his own. Determined to maintain his artistic integrity and unique sound, Joel made the decision to part ways with the band, emphasising his desire to create music that was a true reflection of himself.
In 1976, Joel would go on to record his album “Turnstiles” with his own band, a move that signified his commitment to staying true to his artistic vision. Fast forward almost two decades later, Joel and Elton John would embark on a tour together, titled “Face to Face,” from 1994 to 2010. This collaboration marked a harmonious coming together of two musical titans, showcasing their mutual respect and admiration for each other’s talents.
