Clayton Echard Reacts to Paternity Suit Accuser’s Felony Indictment

Clayton Echard, a former reality TV star, has expressed relief and satisfaction following the indictment of Laura Owens, the woman who falsely accused him of fathering her unborn twins. Owens, who had filed a paternity lawsuit against Echard in 2023, alleging conception after a one-night stand, was indicted on seven felony charges in Arizona on May 6.
Echard, known for his appearance on “The Bachelor,” endured a traumatic period of uncertainty after the false accusations were made against him. However, a paternity test conclusively proved that he was not the father of Owens’ twins, prompting her to drop the lawsuit and claim a miscarriage.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office began an investigation into Owens’ claims in July, which finally led to her indictment on multiple felony charges earlier this month. The charges included four counts of perjury, one count of forgery, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and one count of fraudulent schemes and artifices.
In response to the news of Owens’ indictment, Echard took to Instagram to express his feelings, stating, “Justice is finally served.” He described the experience as a “nightmare” that he was eager to put behind him, acknowledging the collective relief felt by himself and others involved.
Echard highlighted the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions, especially in cases involving false accusations that can have long-lasting repercussions. He emphasised the need for legal consequences to deter such behaviour in the future and protect potential victims from similar experiences.
The legal battle surrounding the paternity suit concluded in Echard’s favour when an Arizona judge ruled in June that Owens had knowingly presented false information. Reflecting on the ruling, Echard expressed gratitude for the resolution of the case and the support he received throughout the ordeal.
Echard’s attorney, Gregg Woodnick, also shared his satisfaction with the outcome, hoping that the indictment of Owens would mark the end of a challenging chapter for all those affected by her actions. The legal team commended the court’s ruling and expressed hope that justice had been served for the victims involved.
