Woman Escapes Storage Container Where She Was Held by Man Who Fatally Beat Her Mother-in-Law ‘To a Pulp,’ Says Sheriff

A terrifying incident unfolded in Florida as a woman managed to escape a harrowing ordeal after being held captive in a storage container by a man who allegedly also killed her mother-in-law. The victim, who was found battered and naked on a desolate road, recounted her traumatic experience to authorities, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing 911 call from a passerby on Douglas Ferry Road, reporting a victim of a brutal attack. Sheriff Kevin Crews revealed that the victim identified David Earl Gipson as the perpetrator, who had visited her home under false pretenses and launched a vicious assault. The attacker not only violently beat the victim’s 74-year-old mother-in-law but also subjected the victim to sexual assault and captivity.

Gipson is accused of handcuffing the woman, removing her clothing, and forcibly taking her to his residence, where he confined her inside a storage container. The victim described the horrific conditions inside the container, fearing for her life as she struggled to breathe. In a courageous act of survival, she managed to break free from her restraints, escape the container, and seek help from a passerby who alerted the authorities.
