A woman in the United Kingdom found herself in hot water after her attempt to taunt the police by commenting on her own wanted poster led to her arrest. The 22-year-old woman, who remains unnamed, was apprehended after leaving a sarcastic comment of “Hey guys” on her own wanted appeal poster, according to a news release from Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

The incident unfolded on Friday, Jan. 31, when the woman made the daring move of mocking the authorities on a social media post shared by the GMP. Little did she know that her taunting would backfire, leading to her capture by the Manchester city center team. She was discovered attempting to conceal herself under “a pile of children’s toys” in a room at a property on Platt Lane in Fallowfield.
Upon her arrest, it was revealed that the woman was wanted for failing to appear in court on charges including three counts of assaulting an emergency worker, drugs offenses, and theft. Additionally, she was also suspected of assaulting a police officer. The suspect was taken into custody for further interrogation by GMP detectives as the investigation unfolded.
Authorities did not disclose the identity of the woman, opting to blur her name in the screengrab of the social media comments. The swift actions of the Manchester Central Neighbourhood Crime Team led to the woman’s apprehension. Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald commended the public for their engagement with the post, attributing their help to locating and arresting the wanted woman.
