Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival attendees are once again expressing disbelief at the prices of food within the festival grounds. A wave of social media posts has shed light on the exorbitant costs of meals and beverages at the event, leaving many festivalgoers flabbergasted.

One individual, Ruth Viveros, took to TikTok to showcase her experience, revealing that she forked out a staggering $102 for two servings of tacos, a portion of loaded nachos, and two lemonades, each priced at $17 per glass. In her video, she expressed disappointment in the quality of the food, describing the tacos as subpar with cold tortillas.
Commenters on TikTok swiftly jumped in to criticise the festival organisers for the jaw-dropping food prices, labelling them as “diabolical” given the limited options available to attendees in the desert setting of Indio, California. The sentiment expressed was that Coachella appeared to be a “miserable money trap” that ensnared unsuspecting visitors.
Another TikTok clip, shared by @FrugalJimmy, featured a slice of pepperoni pizza priced at $13, which, to the poster’s surprise, was considered “not too bad.” Despite the cost, he commended the slice for its taste, deeming it a satisfying purchase.
Anticipation for the upcoming Coachella weekend has prompted festival-goers to seek information on meal prices from those camping on the festival grounds. Reports surfaced on Reddit indicating steep costs, with most items starting at $15-20 and complete meals ranging between $20-30. One individual even highlighted the absurdity of paying $30 for a Nate’s Nashville hot chicken slider and fries.
Coachella’s official website boasts an array of food and drink options, ensuring a diverse menu to cater to the tastes of all attendees, including vegan and gluten-free selections. The festival, known for its star-studded musical performances and extravagant parties, kicked off at the Empire Polo Club on April 11, offering a lineup that includes headliners such as Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone and Travis Scott.
While general admission tickets for the three-day extravaganza were priced from $649 for the first weekend and $599 for the second weekend, additional expenses for shuttle bus tickets, VIP passes, and parking fees only contribute to the overall costly experience. However, amidst the uproar over the food prices, some defended Coachella, emphasizing the unparalleled joy derived from the music and the overall festival atmosphere.
As the festival continues to make headlines with its performances and events, the outcry over food costs underscores the financial challenges faced by attendees. Nevertheless, the allure of Coachella’s unique experience remains a draw for many, with the festival set to provide unforgettable memories for music enthusiasts and party-goers alike.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Coachella saga as attendees navigate the highs and lows of this iconic event.
