A driver in Ohio caused a multi-vehicle crash after dropping his doughnut, leading to significant damage and injuries, according to reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The incident took place at the intersection of Rock Creek and Dewey Roads when the driver, identified as Nicholas Fleming, reached for his food and lost control of his vehicle.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that three vehicles were involved in the crash, with all of them sustaining heavy damage. One person was even trapped in their vehicle following the collision. Emergency services from both the Thompson Fire Department and the Hambden Fire Department were called to the scene to assist the victims of the crash.

Reports indicate that the driver admitted to troopers that he was unfamiliar with the area and was attempting to grab his coffee when he dropped his doughnut, causing the distraction. The driver veered left of the center and collided with two oncoming vehicles travelling west, leading to a chain reaction of the crash.

As a result of the accident, one individual sustained serious injuries, including four broken ribs, a broken wrist, and a broken knee. They were promptly transported to UH-Geauga Medical Center for treatment. Another person involved in the crash refused transport to the hospital and was treated at the scene by emergency responders.

The Thompson Fire Department revealed that a medical helicopter was put on standby but was subsequently cancelled as all patients were deemed to be in stable condition. The road had to be closed for about three hours as authorities assessed the situation and cleared the scene for further investigation.

Following the crash, the driver was charged by law enforcement for causing the accident. The Ohio State Highway Patrol took over the investigation to determine the full extent of the incident and any potential repercussions for the driver involved. Efforts were made to ensure the safety of all individuals involved in the crash and to manage the aftermath of the chaotic scene.
