The collision was described as a “non-contact fatal traffic collision.” It involved a white pickup truck, a white 2025 Toyota Crown, and a white 2017 Toyota Prius. The LAPD detailed the sequence of events leading to the tragic outcome, highlighting that the pickup truck was the vehicle at the centre of the investigation.

Reports indicate that the pickup truck was travelling behind a silver sedan that was executing a left turn from eastbound Roscoe Boulevard onto southbound Louise Avenue. As the silver sedan completed its manoeuvre, the pickup truck made a left turn without yielding to the oncoming traffic, leading to the ensuing chaos.

In an attempt to avoid colliding with the pickup truck, the driver of the Toyota Crown swerved into oncoming traffic. This sudden movement resulted in a devastating head-on collision with the Toyota Prius, which was carrying a mother and her two-month-old baby. Both the child and the mother sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash.
Tragically, the baby succumbed to injuries sustained during the collision, while the mother remains hospitalised in grave condition. The LAPD has not yet released the names of those involved in the incident, as their investigation continues.
Authorities are actively pursuing the driver of the pickup truck, who is reported to have fled the scene following the accident. In contrast, the driver of the Toyota Crown remained at the location and has been cooperating with the investigation.
The Valley Traffic Division Detectives have called upon the public to assist with any information related to the incident. They are particularly keen to hear from witnesses who may have observed the events leading up to the crash. The LAPD is also focusing on community safety, offering advice on proper infant car seat installation to ensure the safety of young passengers.
In their public communication, the LAPD reminded drivers of their responsibilities in the event of an accident. The agency emphasised the importance of stopping safely, providing medical assistance to anyone injured, and sharing personal information with those affected. Fleeing the scene of an accident is considered a serious offence, particularly when it leads to significant injuries.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and caution on the roads. The loss of a young life and the critical condition of a mother highlight the devastating impact that traffic collisions can have on families and communities. As the investigation proceeds, authorities continue to seek justice for the victims and ensure that similar incidents are prevented in the future.
