Authorities in Lake Station, Indiana, are appealing for the public’s help in locating a 16-year-old girl who has been reported missing since November 3. Anberlin Brown, who resides in Winfield, has not been seen since she was captured on camera leaving a local Dollar General store around 6:15 p.m. that evening.

According to the Lake Station Police Department (LSPD), Anberlin is described as being around five feet three inches tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing all black clothing, raising concerns given that she has a mental health condition and did not take her medication with her when she left home.

The teen’s family fears that Anberlin may be with a man regarded as dangerous, though his identity has not been disclosed by authorities. This development adds to the urgency of the situation, as her family continues to express deep concern for her safety.
Anberlin’s mother, Sara Brown, shared details of her daughter’s disappearance on social media. She stated that Anberlin left home at around 3:30 p.m. for what was meant to be a brief walk. A review of surveillance footage showed Anberlin entering the Dollar General store shortly afterward, where she purchased several items before leaving on foot.
In a heartfelt plea to the community, Sara asked locals to check their home security cameras for any sign of Anberlin, emphasising that the family just wants her home safely. “It has been three days now,” she wrote in her post on November 4. “If you can, please take some time out and look at them. Please see if you see her anywhere. I am begging everyone to please help us bring her home.”
The search for Anberlin has since been expanded to include collaboration between the LSPD and the Winfield Police Department (WPD), underscoring the seriousness of the situation. Local law enforcement is actively encouraging anyone with information about Anberlin’s whereabouts to come forward.
Sara remains hopeful, reiterating the family’s concerns while imploring the public to assist in their search. “We just want her home safe! We only care about her getting home safely to us! Please help that happen,” she continued in her posts.
As of the latest updates, police efforts are ongoing, with officers patrolling areas where Anberlin was last seen, as well as distributing flyers to raise awareness. Detectives are also tapping into community networks and social media platforms to widen the reach of their appeal.
The case has drawn significant attention on social media, with many users expressing their support for the family and sharing their own offers of assistance. The heightened visibility may prove crucial in locating Anberlin, as community involvement often plays an essential role in missing persons cases.
Anyone who may have seen Anberlin or has relevant information is encouraged to contact the Lake Station Police Department directly. Each tip, no matter how small, could potentially be integral in bringing the missing teenager home safely to her family.
