In a recent engagement on social media, Billy Evans, the partner of disgraced entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes, shed light on their relationship in the wake of the documentary “You Can See Everything.” Released on October 16, the film offers an intimate look at the couple during the crucial 34 days leading up to Holmes’ federal prison sentence. The film’s success has reignited public interest in both Evans, 34, and Holmes, 42, who has been serving her sentence since May 2023.

Speaking to followers on X (formerly Twitter) on November 2, Evans invited questions in an “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) format. He expressed his intent for the session to remain within legal boundaries and proceeded to address a barrage of inquiries. Central to the conversation was the perception of his role in the relationship, particularly allegations of him being controlling towards Holmes, the former CEO of Theranos.

Evans firmly rejected the notion that he exerts control over Holmes, asserting, “Anyone who actually knows her would find that idea hilarious.” He described Holmes as fiercely independent and strong-willed, emphasising their partnership built on mutual respect and friendship. “We are partners in every sense. We challenge each other, disagree, and face the world together,” he affirmed. He further highlighted the importance of their children, William, born in 2021, and Invicta, born in 2023, as a cornerstone of their life together.

Reflecting on Holmes’ absence due to her imprisonment, Evans shared an emotional portrayal of his feelings. He stated, “I miss her presence. Her touch. The way she runs her fingers through my hair. Her patience.” He underscored the depth of his connection with her, suggesting that she should be regarded as a “medically necessary prescription” for his wellbeing.
The documentary also portrays intimate moments of the couple’s life, as they allowed filmmakers Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim significant access to their day-to-day activities. This included inviting the directors to live in their guest house. The film, which has grossed over $64 million at the domestic box office, has brought renewed focus to Holmes and has implications for her future transition from federal prison to a halfway house, expected in 2027.
During the AMA, Evans addressed a scene in the documentary that has garnered particular attention: a moment when he is shown naked in the shower. Reports suggested that he had agreed to this filming with the condition that it would remain family-friendly. However, Oppenheim provided a contrasting account, stating that Evans undressed without a prior discussion regarding the scene’s portrayal. Responding to a query about this discrepancy, Evans simply described the narrative as false, advising followers to trust “the sources.”
The documentary includes lighter moments as well, notably an exchange where Fielder shows the couple the classic comedy skit “Who’s On First?” by Abbott and Costello. When questioned about his girlfriend’s comprehension of the routine, Evans humorously admitted that Holmes still did not understand the joke even after he explained it to her.
As followers pressed him about various aspects of the film, Evans maintained a candid and playful tone. He even expressed confusion over actor Christopher Abbott’s portrayal of him in the film, responding with “Who is that?” when asked if he felt Abbott was miscast.
Additionally, Evans shared how he managed to access Holmes’ X account after it had been linked to an old email from her now-defunct company, Theranos. In a surprising admission, he noted that he had to contact X directly to retrieve the password.
In concluding his responses during the AMA, Evans reaffirmed his support for the documentary, stating he has no regrets about their participation. “Not at all,” he remarked, suggesting that sharing their story and the circumstances surrounding it was worthwhile, despite the intense scrutiny and controversies.
As the couple navigates the next chapters of their lives, their story continues to resonate, drawing in audiences curious about the complexities of love, loyalty, and the consequences of ambition gone awry.
