For this year’s birthday bash, Nicole and her husband drew inspiration from Jaxson’s burgeoning love for baseball, which they recognised during their recent trips to the iconic Boston ballpark. “We thought it would be perfect to bring a piece of Fenway into our backyard,” Nicole shared. The couple’s passion for the Red Sox stems from her husband’s childhood in New England and his deep-rooted fanhood, which he has joyfully passed on to their boys.
The groundwork for the celebration involved mowing their lawn to outline a baseball diamond and setting down bases, allowing the family to visualize the fun that would unfold. For added authenticity, they incorporated dirt and painted foul lines to enhance the appearance of a real baseball field.
A standout project was the recreation of Fenway’s legendary Green Monster, the park’s famed left-field wall. Nicole sourced wooden panels online, painting them the characteristic green and affixing a scoreboard and Red Sox logos, culminating in a striking backdrop for the festivities. “Seeing that big green wall made everything feel real,” she remarked.
Inside the house, the attention to detail continued with baseball-themed centrepieces crafted from glass domes, featuring red stitching and miniature baseball bats. A special touch was added by Nicole’s grandmother, who created a Fenway-inspired ticket booth where children received VIP passes for a unique entry experience, complete with personalised bags and decorative cups.
To build excitement before the big reveal, Nicole set up an auditorium-style seating arrangement. Guests were treated to two specially made videos: one showcased Jaxson in action, while the other followed a storyline that saw him progressing in minor-league baseball. The grand opening of the field was marked with Whitney Houston’s rendition of the national anthem, creating a touching moment as everyone gathered around the makeshift diamond.
The culinary offerings played a crucial role in evoking the classic ballpark atmosphere. Guests enjoyed a menu of nachos, grilled hot dogs, and ice cream served in baseball helmets, alongside traditional snacks like sunflower seeds, peanuts, and Cracker Jack. Notably, a Wally cake and decorated cookies enhanced the festive spirit, allowing children and adults alike to indulge in genuine ballpark treats.

“Seeing about 25 kids running the bases was heartwarming,” Nicole shared, reflecting on the joy the party brought to her son. With family and friends contributing their time and resources, the entire endeavour came to about £1,500 for the field’s construction and another £500 for decorations, a worthwhile investment in creating cherished memories.
The collaborative effort involved friends and family from as far away as Maine, as well as local college students who assisted in the preparations. “It took great creativity and commitment from everyone to bring this idea to life,” emphasized Nicole, highlighting the support they received.
Despite the party being a one-day affair, its impact continues to resonate. Compliments and messages from guests, including those who couldn’t attend, keep pouring in even days later. “People have told us that we truly outdid ourselves,” Nicole said, reflecting on the delight received from their efforts.
