Este Haim, the bassist and vocal powerhouse of the acclaimed sister band HAIM, is stepping into a new realm of entertainment with her voice role as Hallow’s Eve in the latest Disney Junior special, “Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up!” This engaging project not only marks her debut in voice acting but also introduces Hallow’s Eve to audiences for the very first time in a visual format.

Reflecting on her long-held aspiration of being part of the Marvel universe, Este shared, “I mean, I wrote in my diary, ‘Dear Diary, when can I be in a Marvel movie?’ This was probably 13 years ago.” The 40-year-old artist expressed her sheer excitement at finally realising that dream, stating that the universe had answered her wishes by granting her the role of Hallow’s Eve.
The Disney Junior special features Spidey and the Avengers preparing for Halloween festivities when their plans are inadvertently threatened by Hallow’s Eve and the character Jack O’Lantern, who is voiced by none other than Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy. Este’s portrayal of Hallow’s Eve allows her to explore a character previously confined to comic books, and she relishes the chance to embody a villain for this family-friendly production.

“I’ve always found villains fascinating,” Este remarked. “While I adore Disney princesses, I loved Ursula from ‘The Little Mermaid.’ She had the most entertaining song, ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls.’” Este noted that her initial approach to voicing Hallow’s Eve was a bit too intense for the show’s young audience. “The production team had to remind me to tone it down,” she said, highlighting their desire for a more whimsical interpretation of a witch—“think less Poltergeist and more Stevie Nicks,” she added.
Este’s foray into voice acting was complemented by her musical contributions to the Halloween special, where she collaborated with Stump to record songs for the show. Although accustomed to studio work, Este found the experience unique due to the absence of her sisters, which felt rather odd to her: “I’m so used to being in a booth with them,” she admitted. However, Stump provided support during the recording process via Zoom, which seemed to ease her nerves. “I think he was probably thinking, ‘Este needs a little bit of handholding,’ and he was correct,” she explained, adding that she was quite excited to collaborate with him, especially as it was her first duet with a non-family member.
Their collaborative spirit was evident throughout the production. Este praised Stump, noting his passion for creating music for the show and his commitment to making it enjoyable for children. “You can tell he loves what he does, and it’s evident he admires his kids, too,” she shared. Este’s enthusiasm also resonates with her friends, many of whom are parents. “I’ve received more texts and calls about this show than I did when we released our first album,” she joked, indicating that her work on the special has resonated strongly within her social circle.
Looking ahead, Este expressed a hope that her future children will find joy in her contributions to Spidey and the Avengers, although she’s currently reveling in the approval from the parents in her life. The success of this project has sparked curiosity about a potential collaboration between HAIM and Fall Out Boy. Este responded affirmatively, suggesting that it’s a possibility they would be open to, adding with a grin, “I mean, stranger things have happened.”
As Este Haim continues to carve out her role in the entertainment industry, it’s clear that the magic of her voice and the charm of Halloween in the Marvel universe will leave a lasting impression. The Disney Junior special not only showcases an exciting crossover of beloved characters but also introduces Este’s captivating talents to a new generation of fans. As the clock ticks down to Halloween, audiences can look forward to enjoying this festive tale of adventure and magic, brought to life by an ensemble of inspiring talent.
