It was really hard,” the two-time Emmy Award winner noted, emphasising the demanding nature of the scripts that were filled with fast-paced, reference-heavy dialogue.

The actress elaborated on the intensity of the scripting process, explaining that those involved were not permitted to alter even the smallest details in the text. “Oh, our scripts are 93 pages, and you can’t change a contraction, even if you get them that morning and it’s a 10-page oner,” she recounted, which speaks to the rigorous standards set by Sherman-Palladino. Despite the pressure, McCarthy expressed admiration for the show’s unique style and for Sherman-Palladino’s tenacity in preserving her vision as a female showrunner at that time.

‘Gilmore Girls’, which premiered in 2000, is recognised for its witty dialogue and vibrant portrayal of small-town life in the fictional Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The show follows the lives of single mother Lorelai, played by Graham, and her daughter Rory, played by Alexis Bledel.
