Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., a 15-year-old son of former NFL player Kroy Biermann and reality TV star Kim Zolciak, is facing serious legal challenges. Recently, he was indicted on seven felony charges, including aggravated child molestation and sexual battery, in connection with disturbing allegations regarding a family member.

The Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia recently held a bond hearing for KJ, during which the prosecutor, District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy, stated that investigators discovered videos on KJ’s mobile phone. These videos reportedly depict sexual acts involving a minor relative under the age of twelve, as well as KJ reportedly using what the DA described as “predatory, derogatory” language.
This is not the first time KJ has faced such allegations. McGillicuddy highlighted in court that this incident marked the second serious charge of a sexual nature involving female victims against the teenager. Since an earlier incident involving a family member, KJ has been under court supervision, a condition that has raised concerns about his behaviour.
Legal proceedings surrounding the case continue to unfold. KJ’s attorney, Jason Sheffield, has advocated for a $65,000 bail, asserting that the circumstances of the case have been profoundly traumatic for his client, who he describes as a “not a boisterous kid” and “somewhat quiet.” However, the prosecution has requested that bail, if granted, be set substantially higher at $190,000, citing that the alleged victim from a separate incident has endured “documented physical injury.”
KJ has been charged with a comprehensive list of serious offences, including aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, and several counts of sexual battery against minors. These allegations stem from an incident purportedly occurring on April 23, 2026, leading to KJ’s arrest on August 17 in Alpharetta, Georgia. He was subsequently detained at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center in Atlanta.
Sheffield has publicly denied the allegations, framing the arrest as a “tragedy”. He firmly asserted that KJ is not only presumed innocent, but is, in fact, innocent. His mother, Kim Zolciak, also voiced her concerns regarding the allegations in a statement, condemning them as “reckless and deeply troubling.” She maintains that her son denies any involvement with the alleged incidents and even underwent a polygraph test, which he passed. Additionally, she said that no DNA evidence linking him to the accusations was found.
In her defence of her son, Zolciak expressed the potential harms of false accusations, highlighting that they can unjustly impact the accused and undermine the experiences of true survivors. She called for the judicial process to take its course without public speculation based on unproven allegations.
While the legal issues emerge, the family dynamics appear strained. Zolciak and Biermann are currently navigating a complicated divorce process, having filed for divorce in April 2023 after twelve years of marriage. Although the couple briefly attempted to reconcile, Biermann filed for divorce for the second time in August 2023. Together, they share six children, including KJ, and have faced challenges as each case managed to unfold in the public eye.
