In a shocking turn of events, a group of seven women has initiated a lawsuit against renowned hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai, his salon company, and a former employee. The plaintiffs allege that Fekkai’s establishments were used by Jeffrey Epstein to groom and exploit vulnerable women during his years of abuse. The suit, filed in New York Supreme Court, asserts that these women were directed to Fekkai’s salons by Epstein himself.
The allegations, which mark a troubling intersection of celebrity culture and alleged criminal activity, suggest that the hairstylist played a role in facilitating Epstein’s schemes. Among the plaintiffs, five women are identified as Jane Doe 1 through Jane Doe 5, accompanied by Kersti Ferguson and Audra Christiansen. They assert that Fekkai, in collaboration with his staff, provided services in a manner that directly contributed to Epstein’s abusive conduct.
Fekkai’s representative, Mark Herr, has firmly denied these claims, stating, “These allegations are false. Mr. Fekkai has done nothing wrong.” He elaborated that Fekkai has no knowledge of whether any victims of Epstein were among the numerous clients served in his salons, which reportedly cater to thousands of customers each year.
According to the complaint, the women allege that their appearances were manipulated to conform to Epstein’s preferences. This includes assertions that they were groomed to appear as youthful as possible and that stylists were instructed to alter their hair to meet Epstein’s particular aesthetic demands. The lawsuit claims, “Fekkai groomed the victims to look as young as possible under Epstein’s direction,” suggesting a disturbing level of control exercised by Epstein over their appearances.
The lawsuit further highlights a specific Fekkai salon located at 712 Fifth Avenue, which was situated inside the Henri Bendel department store. It is claimed that this location was one of the venues where Epstein and his associates carried out activities linked to his trafficking operations. Allegations have additionally emerged that Epstein played a role in helping to establish Fekkai’s business, and that both Fekkai and former employee Patrick Coombs utilised their influence to assist Epstein in exerting control over women.
Adding a political dimension to the case, the lawsuit references remarks made by Representative Thomas Massie on 31 August. Massie listed Fekkai among several individuals suggested for investigation regarding their ties to Epstein. A screen capture from Massie’s social media account included a call for accountability amongst those he termed as “coconspirators” in connection to Epstein’s wrongdoing.
The complaint also refers to a letter written by House Republicans addressed to the Department of Justice, advocating for an inquiry into Fekkai’s activities, labelling him as a “longtime assistant” to Epstein who was allegedly “complicit in the abuse.”
As the lawsuit progresses, the plaintiffs are pursuing financial compensation alongside legal fees and other forms of relief from the court. Some of the women have offered personal accounts to various news outlets, illuminating their experiences and the purported manipulation they faced.
One plaintiff recounted being brought to a Fekkai salon in Manhattan at the young age of 19, noting that when she expressed her desired hairstyle, the stylist disregarded her wishes. Instead, she recalled the stylist responding: “Those aren’t the instructions I got.” This chilling detail indicated that the stylists were operating under directives not aligned with the women’s personal choices.
Another woman shared her own similar experience, emphasising that her stylist seemed to have prior knowledge of specific instructions regarding her hair. According to her, “He had instructions and that’s all. You went in there and that was it.” This supports the claims made in the lawsuit regarding the level of control Epstein exercised over these women’s appearances through the actions of the salons.
