Jessie J has announced her decision to take a step back from social media, stating that the past two years have significantly affected her well-being. In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, the 38-year-old singer expressed her intention to prioritise her health and dedicate more time to her family, particularly her three-year-old son, Sky.

In a video uploaded on 7 September, Jessie reassured her fans that while she is not at her best, she remains “very far from [her] worst.” She acknowledged the struggles she has faced, emphasizing that her journey has been both transformative and challenging. “I want to start this post off by saying I am ok,” she wrote in the accompanying caption.

The singer reflected on the various milestones she has encountered over the past two years, stating, “It’s no secret that the last two years have been magical, successful, life changing, and extremely busy.” She pointed out that despite the highs, there were also difficult moments. Jessie listed significant life events that shaped her experience, including the release of her first album in eight years, relocating from the United States to the United Kingdom, and, most notably, being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in June 2025.
Following her cancer diagnosis, Jessie underwent a mastectomy and was declared cancer-free in May 2026. The year has also brought about personal changes, including her breakup with partner Chanan Safir Colman, with whom she shares her son. “The past two years have taken a toll on parts of me that I haven’t had time to give space and grace to,” she admitted.
Jessie’s announcement comes as she aims to give herself the necessary time to heal, stating, “Now’s the time. Work has slowed down. So healing speeds up please.” She intends to focus on her mental and physical health, alongside her parenting responsibilities. “I’m tapping out of this [social media] world for a while and into my real one,” she explained.
In her post, Jessie announced a “digital cleanse,” explaining that she often finds it challenging to engage fully with her online presence while managing her personal life. “I never feel I can really give that side the energy and time it deserves while staying on socials and my phone so much,” she elaborated.
Jessie J expressed gratitude towards her supporters, acknowledging those who have stood by her through her tumultuous journey. “Thank you for holding me up,” she said, highlighting the importance of her community during this time of reflection and recovery. While she plans to limit her social media interactions, she mentioned that any upcoming posts would either come from her team or during specific work-related commitments.
In a poignant closing to her social media activity, Jessie shared a tender image of her hand clasping her son’s, captioned, “No place I would rather be. Bye social media. Be back when I want to be.” This sentiment encapsulates her desire to embrace this period of rest and rediscovery with her family at the forefront.
As she embarks on this journey of healing, fans and followers alike will undoubtedly respect her decision and await her return when the time is right.
