Authorities in South Australia have found human remains believed to be linked to the ongoing search for missing person Joshua Clifton-Demell, who disappeared over eight months ago. The remains were discovered near Yorkeys Crossing on Friday, September 4, in an isolated part of the outback, close to where Clifton-Demell’s abandoned motorbike was located earlier this year.

The 40-year-old father was last seen on January 23 when he left an address in Port Augusta West on his motorbike. His last sighting was reported at around 6 p.m. local time. At that time, South Australia Police issued a public appeal for information on his whereabouts, describing him as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a stocky build, brown eyes, and a distinctive mullet-style haircut. A large cross tattoo on the right side of his neck was also noted in their communications.
Supt. Josh Heinze, speaking to local media, confirmed the grim find, stating, “It is too early to confirm the identity of the human remains. They will be subject to forensic testing and I hope to have the results in the coming days.” He emphasized that police would update the public as soon as further information is available. Presently, the case is not being treated as suspicious.
The search for Clifton-Demell intensified this week, involving members of Major Crime and Missing Persons Investigation Section, the Mounted Operations Unit, State Emergency Service volunteers, and local detectives, alongside aerial support. His brother, Tim Clifton, expressed his distress over his brother’s prolonged absence. “We went out for a motorbike ride with one of our cousins, and he never returned,” Tim said in a past interview. “They found the motorbike and never found him. It’s been hell, really thinking about what happened to my brother.”
Among those deeply affected by Clifton-Demell’s disappearance is his wife, Shelby. She spoke of the emotional toll the last several months have taken on their family, particularly their six-year-old daughter, Kiani. “It’s been pure hell, emotional.
