The anticipation is building for Netflix’s latest film, *The Whisper Man*, set to premiere on August 28. The thriller stars renowned actors Robert De Niro, known for his illustrious career, and Adam Scott, who has carved out his own impressive path in Hollywood.

During a recent interview, Adam Scott reflected on his early experiences as a fan of De Niro. Despite his status as an Emmy-nominated actor, Scott found himself starstruck when he first encountered De Niro at the Emmys. “I sat behind Bob at the Emmys once,” Scott recalled, explaining his nervousness. “I was just looking at the back of his head and thought, ‘Do I introduce myself?’ Eventually, I decided against it – I didn’t want to embarrass myself.”
Fast forward to their collaboration in *The Whisper Man*, and Scott’s initial hesitations quickly dissipated. The film follows the harrowing story of a single father, Tom, played by Scott, whose son is kidnapped by a serial killer imitating another incarcerated murderer’s crimes. As desperation mounts, Tom reaches out to his estranged father, Peter, portrayed by De Niro, who was responsible for putting the original killer behind bars.
Scott describes the process of working alongside De Niro as a rewarding experience. “It was great to have a movie and a role that was interesting, along with a brilliant director like James Ashcroft and a solid script,” he noted, signalling the positive atmosphere on set.
Robert De Niro, a two-time Academy Award winner, admitted he was not fully familiar with Scott’s body of work before they began filming but appreciated the camaraderie that developed between the two actors. Acknowledging this bond, Scott shared that as a young aspiring actor, he had a photograph of De Niro on display in his high school locker. “He’s the guy. That’s why I was terrified to meet him,” Scott explained, adding that his main concern was not disappointing De Niro with his performance.
Scott was not alone in his awe of the legendary actor. Co-star Michelle Monaghan, who plays a detective in the film, also experienced the pressure of working alongside De Niro. At the film’s premiere on August 24, she expressed her admiration, revealing that she and Scott had “deep discussions” about their shared excitement and nerves regarding their performances with De Niro.
Monaghan, 50, has long admired De Niro’s work, stating, “This is someone we grew up revering – someone who inspired us to pursue our careers in this industry. Nothing can compare to the feeling of being able to meet him, shake his hand, and do a scene with him.” She further praised De Niro’s character, noting, “He is as kind as he is talented. He does not disappoint on any level. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
The combination of Scott and Monaghan’s respect for De Niro sets a compelling stage for *The Whisper Man*, where intense emotional exchanges and gripping storytelling intersect. As fans await the film’s release, the powerful performances by this trio promise to make it a noteworthy addition to the thriller genre.
*The Whisper Man* will be available to stream starting August 28, and viewers can expect a blend of drama, suspense, and heartfelt character development, showcasing the talents of its esteemed cast.
