Music icon Barry Manilow has confirmed that he will pause his touring schedule in the wake of cancelling a couple of performances in Las Vegas. The announcement came via a heartfelt message on Instagram, where the 83-year-old singer-songwriter detailed the need for a brief hiatus.
Following a successful summer where he played 29 shows over a span of 68 days, Manilow shared his joy about the performances, stating that both the attendance and the atmosphere had been remarkable. However, he also acknowledged that he may have been “pushing a little too hard” during this time.

“Hi everybody — Barry here,” he began his message. “I want you to be the first to know that we’re going to take a quick break.” Manilow expressed gratitude for the warm reception during his summer shows but candidly noted the importance of taking some time off to recuperate.

The cancellation of performances on August 21 and 22 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino was attributed to “technical and vocal problems,” prompting the singer to pause. “We’re very sorry but we have to cancel tonight’s and tomorrow’s performances. Due to technical and vocal problems, we’re unable to put on our show,” read the statement released prior to the cancellation.
In his Instagram post, Manilow assured fans that he plans to return to the Westgate on October 8, where he anticipates resuming his shows with renewed energy. “I’ll be singing like a bird. I hope to see you then,” he stated optimistically. Fans can look forward to upcoming concert dates, which the star has promised to announce next week.
Earlier this summer, Manilow had to postpone a scheduled concert in Lexington, Kentucky, which was initially set for August 4. This decision was also attributed to “unforeseen circumstances,” and was particularly concerning for fans who knew it had already been rescheduled once before due to Manilow’s lung cancer treatment.
Despite these setbacks, the singer remains committed to his craft and eager to perform again. His sincere communication about the challenges he faces has been well received by fans, who are supportive of his decision to take a step back when necessary.
As a prominent figure in the music industry, Manilow’s career spans several decades, during which he has produced countless hits and garnered a loyal following. The singer is best known for his classic songs such as “Mandy” and “Copacabana,” which have solidified his status as a music legend.
With reassurances of his return to the stage, fans are likely to be understanding and patient as they await his comeback. As the date of his return approaches, excitement is expected to build, marking another chapter in the distinguished career of Barry Manilow.
