‘Graphic and Dark’ Photos Show 2 Missing Women Seemingly Dead in Philly Home as Police Find 10,000 Pages of Drawings, Manuscripts

Authorities in Philadelphia are delving into a harrowing investigation involving the house of Eugene Horsch, revealing a potential connection to the presumed deaths of two women who have been missing for several years. Police discovered alarming evidence while searching Horsch’s residence, which included hundreds of thousands of troubling images and videos, hinting at a more sinister narrative surrounding the disappearances.

The inquiry commenced on June 19, when law enforcement intervened during a heated argument between Horsch and a woman in a parked vehicle. This encounter piqued the interest of a park ranger, leading to a search that uncovered an arsenal of disturbing items, including fake Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) identification, a switchblade, and firearms with defaced serial numbers. The female companion, who was later identified as having Blair Tonzelli’s identification, has been reported missing since February of this year.

Following this alarming discovery, police extended their investigation to Horsch’s home, located on West Chew Avenue in Philadelphia. There, they unearthed five urns believed to contain human remains, a so-called “home lab” situated within the basement, and various containers housing an unidentified oily substance. The seriousness of the situation escalated when authorities found an estimated 600,000 images and 70,000 videos. According to police sources, these materials are graphic in nature and contribute to the belief that the missing women, Maribel Fresses and Gabrielle Amarando, may be dead.

Maribel Fresses was last seen in February 2018, while Gabrielle Amarando had been missing since September 2012. The ongoing investigation has garnered significant attention, particularly after the medical examiner suggested that if the images extracted from Horsch’s digital devices are authentic and unaltered, they could indicate that both women are deceased. Inspector Ray Evers, addressing the media, characterised the materials found as “graphic and dark,” signalling the grim potential of their content.

The residence also has a somewhat eerie history, as it was the last known location of Horsch’s father, Raymond “R.C.” Horsch, a filmmaker and erotic photographer, who died in 2025. Additionally, Horsch’s wife, Amy McHale, went missing in 2016 after reportedly visiting the same property. Amanda Stofer, their daughter, recounted how her mother left a voicemail indicating she was at “Ray’s”, referring to R.C. Horsch. Despite reassurances from R.C. Horsch to herself and detectives about Amy’s whereabouts, she has never been found.

The situation took another sombre turn with the recent implications concerning Blair Tonzelli. Inspector Evers noted on Thursday that the circumstances surrounding her disappearance prompt a chilling possibility that she may never be seen again.

As the investigation unfolds, much remains undisclosed about Horsch’s activities and the extent of the evidence collected. To date, investigators have examined only a small fraction of the digital data available, as they have accessed merely five to seven per cent of the information stored across five hard drives that were seized from the property.

The FBI has stepped in to assist the Philadelphia authorities, reflecting the case’s complexity and gravity. Police are calling upon the public for any information relating to Horsch’s address or anyone who has engaged with the property in the past. They are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who suspect that a missing loved one may have links to the ongoing investigation.
