Jodie Sweetin, known for her role as Stephanie Tanner on the beloved television series *Full House*, has recently set the record straight about the origin of her name. During an interview on the podcast *Hyperfixated with Joseph Shepherd*, the 44-year-old actress addressed a long-standing rumour that she was named after fellow actress Jodie Foster.

Responding to the speculation, Sweetin declared, “No, that’s a lie.” She elaborated on the matter, revealing that her name was originally listed as “Jody” on her birth certificate, spelled J-O-D-Y. Upon her adoption, her parents decided against changing her name entirely, instead opting to modify the spelling to Jodie, changing the “Y” to an “I” and adding an “E”. Sweetin explained, “They were gonna change my name, but they were like, ‘Why would we do that? She’s like a year old.’ So they just changed the spelling of it. And that is—that’s my name.”
