Jodie Sweetin, renowned for her role in the popular television series “Full House,” recently opened up about her eldest daughter Zoie’s plans for tertiary education during a feature in the Dory Jackson Interview Series. Sweetin expressed her pride in Zoie’s decision to pursue community college, describing it as a sensible next step in her educational journey. The actress detailed how her daughter had the option to play soccer at a college level and secure a scholarship. “She was like, ‘Yeah, let me like save some student debt and all of that while I’m figuring out what I want to do,’” Sweetin recalled, adding that she wholeheartedly believes this path is suitable for Zoie.

The conversation highlighted Sweetin’s commitment to fostering independence in her daughters. She remarked, “I just wanted her to feel like she was in control of what comes next,” underscoring the importance of autonomy in their lives. Despite the challenges that come with parenting teenagers, Sweetin found joy in the growth and development of her daughters, playfully noting that while Zoie may not be able to put the dishes in the dishwasher yet, she is managing to piece together her future.
As her daughters enter adulthood, Sweetin addressed the notion of becoming an empty nester, stating that she feels unlikely ever to experience that situation. “I don’t think it’ll ever be empty. Do we ever empty the nest these days?” she mused while discussing future life plans with her husband, Mescal Wasilewski. The couple has aspirations of moving out of Los Angeles following their daughters’ completion of schooling. However, Sweetin also hinted at wanting to maintain a connection to the area, suggesting that her daughters might still have a place to return to.
Sweetin’s relationships with her daughters have proven to be integral to her happiness. Her transition into a new marriage, which involved the active participation of Zoie and Beatrix, signals the solid bond they share. During her wedding to Wasilewski, both daughters played significant roles, with Zoie notably selecting Sweetin’s wedding dress. “Zoie was the one that picked it off the rack and it was the first one I tried on and it was stunning,” she fondly recounted.
Sweetin has also praised Wasilewski’s ability to connect with her children. The actress noted that he has taken on a parental role, frequently taking the girls to their soccer games and attending their school performances. “He really has jumped in, and he listens to them and they laugh with him,” she commented, indicating the positive impact he has made on the family dynamic.
In conversations surrounding parenting, Sweetin remains candid about her experiences. She continues to emphasise the importance of honesty with her daughters, acknowledging her imperfections as a parent. “One thing I have always done with my girls is admitted that I’m not perfect and that I don’t always have all the answers,” she stated. Sweetin believes that this transparency is crucial, allowing her children to see their mother as a relatable figure rather than an infallible authority.
With Sweetin’s thoughtful approach to motherhood, it is evident that she values the journey of raising her daughters while also encouraging their independence. As Zoie prepares to embark on her college experience, Sweetin’s supportive attitude shines through, demonstrating her commitment to nurturing her daughters’ aspirations and their personal growth.
