Alec Baldwin Shares the One Message That He Hopes to Instill in His 8 Children

Alec Baldwin, the well-known actor famous for his role in the sitcom “30 Rock,” is eager to convey an important lesson to his children, which he describes as a fundamental lifeline in challenging times: the concept of hope. Recently, Baldwin attended the premiere of the documentary “Gaslit,” where he took the opportunity to discuss the significance of this message for his eight children.

Baldwin, who is 68 years old, shares seven children with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, in addition to his 30-year-old daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger. During his conversation with E! News, he conveyed that he wants his children to embrace hope, especially considering the turbulent realities of today’s world.

With a touch of humour, Baldwin remarked on the future, joking that his children should prepare to “push my wheelchair” when he gets older. “But seriously, I want my kids to grow up having hope because right now it’s more hopeless than I’ve ever seen,” he added earnestly.

He continued, pointing out children’s inherent ability to perceive the world around them, even if they don’t always articulate it. “Kids have a latent learning curve. They get it,” Baldwin said. He emphasized the importance of instilling in them a sense of hope while also motivating them to engage with societal responsibilities. “We’ve got to continue to fight to prove to our children that you have to keep fighting. You’ve got to have hope, and you’ve got to keep fighting to take the reins of power in our society from those who might misuse it.”

Baldwin and Hilaria’s family consists of their children: Carmen Gabriela, 12; Rafael Thomas, 10; Leonardo Ángel Charles, 9; Romeo Alejandro David, 8; María Lucía Victoria, 5; Ilaria Catalina Irena, 3; and Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 5. Their close-knit family recently enjoyed a snowy holiday together, which Baldwin and Hilaria documented on social media.

This past Christmas season, the Baldwin family welcomed a new member—an adorable husky puppy named Laila, following the loss of their previous dog, Dama. In an Instagram post, Hilaria detailed the bittersweet experience, sharing that they could never replace Dama, but the children expressed a desire for a new puppy. “My ‘what’s one more?’ personality said yes,” she explained with a touch of humour, introducing Laila to their followers.

Their festive celebrations included heartfelt family moments, with photos showcasing the kids eagerly opening presents. The children received a variety of gifts, including a Barbie doll for María and a Bluey toy for Ilaria. Hilaria posted pictures of the kids enjoying one another’s company, such as two of their daughters doing each other’s makeup and another child joyfully rolling out dough while dressed in a Moana costume.
