For the first time, visitors will have the chance to select their destinations as they embark on their journey in the iconic Millennium Falcon. The new mission invites guests to interact directly with Grogu, the beloved youngling often referred to as Baby Yoda, enhancing the excitement and immersion of this extraordinary experience at both Disneyland and Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
This thrilling new addition aligns perfectly with the unveiling of the film from Lucasfilm, which has captivated audiences worldwide. The cinematic offering is a continuation of the story introduced in the television series, allowing fans to explore further adventures of the Mandalorian and his apprentice, Grogu.

Disney Parks provided a sneak peek of the upcoming mission via social media, showcasing a briefing delivered by Din Djarin, the Mandalorian himself. In a recent Instagram post, he outlines the objective: capturing two Imperial officers and a pirate, with insight from the infamous pirate captain Hondo Ohnaka. Guests will be alerted to the mission’s location on Tatooine, where they will join the Mandalorian and Grogu for an escapade across the galaxy.
Once aboard the Millennium Falcon, flight crews will have the opportunity to pursue their bounties, visiting notable locations such as Cloud City on Bespin, the metropolitan planet of Coruscant, and the remnants of the second Death Star, which hangs in orbit around Endor. This new mission presents an interactive experience where the guests are empowered with the freedom to decide their route, making it a unique addition to the Smugglers Run attraction.
In addition to this feature, a fresh gameplay element will allow those in engineer positions to communicate with Grogu, deepening the connection visitors will feel with the characters from the story as they navigate their interstellar adventure. The attraction initially opened at both parks in 2019, inviting guests to step aboard Han Solo’s legendary spaceship for an engaging and thrilling smuggling quest.
The collaboration between Disney’s theme park division and Lucasfilm highlights the seamless blend of storytelling across different mediums. Asa Kalama, an Imagineer, noted the importance of teamwork within Disney to create a unique cinematic experience alongside the mission dynamic of the Smugglers Run.
The forthcoming film builds on the narrative established in The Mandalorian, which gained acclaim for its storytelling and character development. The series saw protagonist Din Djarin and Grogu embark on numerous adventures throughout the vast Star Wars universe. Co-creator and director Jon Favreau expressed his enthusiasm for this transition to the big screen, relaying a sense of thrill in bringing the beloved characters to life for audiences once again.
As the film approaches its release, anticipation is palpable among fans eager to experience the newest adventures of the Mandalorian and Grogu. The film’s cast also features significant talent, with Jeremy Allen White and Jonny Coyne joining Pascal and Weaver in this exciting new chapter of the Star Wars saga.
With the dual launch of the enhanced attraction and the film, Disney is poised to deliver an unforgettable experience to Star Wars enthusiasts and theme park visitors alike. The convergence of cinematic storytelling and interactive park experiences has been a hallmark of Disney’s approach, ensuring that fans remain enraptured by this timeless universe. As the date draws nearer, all eyes will be on Disney Parks and Lucasfilm as they unveil this latest chapter in the Mandalorian saga.
