Actress and singer Christina Milian has opened up about her family’s relocation to France, where she and her husband, Matt Pokora, are raising their three children. The couple has made a seamless transition into their new life in Paris, which Milian has described as a fitting environment for the family.

Milian, who has a daughter, Violet, aged 16, and two younger sons, Isaiah, 6, and Kenna, 5, highlighted the advantages of this move during the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. She revealed that her children are happily adjusting to their new lifestyle, which balances school, friendships, and daily routines. According to Milian, the bilingual abilities of her younger children have facilitated the transition, making it feel like a natural progression for them.

“My kids have taken to it,” she said. “They love going back home to L.A. to visit their cousins, so it’s like a vacation when they return there. However, their day-to-day life here is filled with parks, school, and friends, which feels very normal for them.”

The actress also shared insights into her eldest daughter’s experience. Violet is navigating the changes of her new environment while maintaining connections with both her French and Los Angeles friends. “My 16-year-old daughter has experienced this before, and now it’s a new chapter for her. She speaks French and has friends from both cultures, creating a rich blend of experiences,” Milian explained.

Reflecting on her family’s adaptation, Milian voiced contentment with the French way of life, expressing plans to remain in Paris long-term. She intends for her children to thrive in their education and language skills, essential elements she values. “My kids go to school here, and it’s important they continue speaking the language,” she noted.

In earlier comments made to PEOPLE, Milian elaborated on how she balances her professional commitments while living abroad. Her daily routine allows time for family, self-care, and work, albeit with a twist. “During the day, I handle family matters, work out, and prepare dinner. My workday often begins around 7 p.m. with calls and preparations while dinner is underway,” she recounted.

However, she admitted that dinner time can often be challenging as she juggles parenting responsibilities alongside her professional duties. “It’s the only time it might be a little bit stress-inducing,” she confessed. “I try to shift my focus fully to work by around 8:30 p.m., at which point I can handle my business with a clear mind.”

Despite her roots in Hollywood, Milian does not foresee a return to the United States in the near future. She and Pokora are accustomed to an evolving lifestyle that accommodates their family’s diverse backgrounds. “I think we’ll stay in Paris for a long time; it’s becoming a significant place for us,” she stated confidently.
