The 30-year-old private chef, who gained fame for her culinary experiences in the Hamptons, is excited to embrace the season with a variety of dishes. Her summer menu is set to include seafood pasta and refreshing tomato-based dishes, along with desserts made from seasonal fruits such as strawberries, peaches, and blueberries. “I am so excited for strawberry season,” Hayden remarked, recalling a strawberry sorbet she made the previous summer that she wishes to recreate.

As she balances her time between her homes in the Hamptons and New York City, Hayden emphasises her desire to fully savour this summer. Her current goals come in light of a recent social media post, where she reflected on a personal heartbreak, juxtaposed against her aspirations for a vibrant summer.
Hayden’s journey back to the kitchen follows a challenging recovery from ACL surgery, which she underwent after tearing the ligament while skiing in February. She took a break from social media for three weeks in March to focus on her rehabilitation and has since expressed surprise at the lengthy nature of the recovery process. “This time last year, I couldn’t be on my feet for longer than like 15 minutes at a time,” she recalled, acknowledging the challenges of regaining her stamina for cooking, a task she usually handles with confidence.
As the summer approaches, she is eager to immerse herself in the kitchen once again. “I have all of these amazing ideas and recipes that I’ve been eager to cook over the past year, but my body wasn’t able to keep up with the pace of my brain,” she explained. The experience taught her the importance of cooking and engaging in hands-on activities as a means of promoting her mental health.
Hayden noted that her creative outlet serves as a therapeutic escape, especially during her recovery when she was unable to engage in these activities. “I really noticed a difference in my mood and energy when I couldn’t cook or dive into tactile projects,” she shared, highlighting the soothing nature of cooking as a form of mindfulness.
One dish that brings her comfort on days when she prefers simplicity is pasta pomodoro. Using cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced garlic, olive oil, butter, and basil, she finds the repetitive nature of preparing these ingredients to be intellectually rewarding, transforming humble items into a delicious meal.
Often by her side in the kitchen is her Bernese Mountain Dog, Poppy, who seems to intuitively recognise when it is time to cook. “It’s just funny to see how at ease she is when I’m at the kitchen,” Hayden commented fondly, as Poppy enjoys the kitchen’s buzz and snags any fruit or vegetable scraps that fall to the floor.
In addition to her summer goals, Hayden has announced a collaboration with Barilla, working on a new pasta shape in their Al Bronzo line. The radiatori pasta, newly crafted to be organic-certified, features deep ridges and five wings to enhance sauce adherence, making it an ideal choice for her culinary creations. Hayden has given her seal of approval to the new shape, citing its ability to elevate everyday meals into something reminiscent of dining at a restaurant.
“Simple things like that can easily transform at-home dishes, enabling cooks to feel like they are indulging in a restaurant experience,” she explained. Hayden’s commitment to quality ingredients and innovative cooking techniques aligns perfectly with her mission to inspire others to appreciate and enjoy the act of cooking.
As she gears up for a summer brimming with fresh flavours and personal growth, Meredith Hayden exemplifies how food can serve as a powerful tool for healing and creativity in both the kitchen and beyond. With her culinary aspirations in full swing, she invites her followers to join her journey of discovery through cooking, embracing the joys of seasonal ingredients and the therapeutic nature of creating delicious meals.
