As the 2026 Cannes Film Festival approaches, Carlos Sainz, the Williams Racing driver and L’Oréal Paris ambassador, has expressed his enthusiasm for the prestigious event, particularly the ongoing efforts to support women’s contributions to film. Speaking to PEOPLE, Sainz shared his thoughts ahead of the Lights on Women’s Worth dinner, an event dedicated to recognising and celebrating emerging female directors from short and student films.

Sainz, who has garnered a loyal following in Formula 1, reflected on the vital role that women in his life play in his success. He spoke fondly of his mother, Reyes Vázquez de Castro, and his two sisters, Ana and Blanca. “I admire them greatly,” he stated, underlining the influence they have had on him. He also revealed the joy they bring to his life as he enjoys time with his three nephews when he returns to Madrid.
Addressing the importance of supporting women in various fields, Sainz emphasised respect and opportunity. “It’s about respecting them and giving them the chance to shine and succeed in whatever disciplines or aspirations they have,” he remarked. The driver acknowledged the platform his popularity provides him, stating that he uses his Instagram account to uplift and promote women’s achievements whenever possible.
With his tightly packed Formula 1 schedule, which takes him from the Australian Grand Prix in March to the season’s final race in Abu Dhabi in December, Sainz relies on L’Oréal Paris products to boost his confidence. “My daily routine mainly includes the L’Oréal Men Expert Hydra Energetic,” he explained, detailing how it fits seamlessly into his life. “It’s a moisturiser I use post-shower nearly every day. It takes just a few seconds and leaves me feeling refreshed.”
Further discussing his skincare regimen, Sainz mentioned the importance of sun protection, stating, “If I’m going to be exposed to the sun, I always use SPF 50 to safeguard my skin. With just those two essentials, I’m generally set for the day. On occasion, I’ll incorporate other specific products depending on my schedule, but that’s my basic routine.”
In addition to moisturisers, Sainz highlighted other favourite items from the L’Oréal Paris line, including the Revitalift Triple Power Age Defying Serum. This product aims to combat wrinkles while enhancing the skin’s firmness and brightness. He also credits the L’Oréal Paris Hyaluron + Pure Haircare System for keeping his scalp healthy and hydrated.
Throughout the Cannes Film Festival, taking place from May 12 to May 23, L’Oréal Paris will continue its longstanding tradition of celebrating the beauty of artistic expression both on and off the red carpet. For Sainz, being a part of such a renowned event is an honour. “There are so many ambassadors I’ve admired on screen, and to now meet them in person is an incredible experience,” he expressed. This marks his second year attending the festival, and he indicates that he hopes to make it an annual tradition.
With the Lights on Women’s Worth dinner approaching, Carlos Sainz demonstrates that he understands the significance of supporting women in the arts, reflecting a broader commitment to gender equality in all areas of life. As he steps out on the red carpet, he serves as a reminder that the world of sports can indeed champion diversity and drive meaningful conversations about female empowerment.
Overall, Sainz’s message resonates not just with his fans but also with individuals aspiring toward greater recognition of women’s vital roles within various industries. His heartfelt gestures and commitment to uplifting others embody a refreshing spirit of gratitude and advocacy, making his presence at Cannes not merely a personal milestone but a platform for broader social change.
