The announcement followed an early stage of filming on location in the picturesque French Riviera, where Bonham Carter was set to portray a character described as a faded star striving for a comeback. However, it appears that the expectations for her portrayal did not align with her artistic vision. Specifically, it was reported that White requested a more “boisterous” performance, prompting Bonham Carter to leave just a week into the production.
In light of this abrupt departure, Laura Dern has been cast as Bonham Carter’s replacement. Notably,Dern will be taking on a completely different role that was specifically crafted for her.
