In a candid discussion with PEOPLE, influencer Claudia Oshry, widely known as the host of the online series “The Toast,” opened up about her health and wellness journey following the birth of her first child, son Reuben, with husband Ben Soffer. Becoming a mother has prompted Oshry to reassess her approach to health and body image, and she has rediscovered a sense of pride in her physical form.
Oshry, 31, welcomed Reuben in May 2025 and has since been navigating the complexities of motherhood while prioritising her health. She described her current phase as “a bit of a slower era,” admitting that since becoming a mother, her focus has shifted significantly away from herself. “I’m just not focusing so much on me,” she confessed, highlighting the changes in her self-care routines.

Despite this shift, she remains committed to simpler but effective wellness practices. “Even when I’m not in my ‘health girl era,’ I try to drink a lot of water and electrolytes, and I make it a point to get plenty of sun,” Oshry shared. She emphasised the importance of feeling good and maintaining her energy levels, noting that adopting a “low-lift” approach has worked best for her.
One significant aspect of her wellness journey includes the revival of her use of GLP-1 medication, which she restarted in December after initially using it to lose 70 lbs. GLP-1, or glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, are medications that help with weight management by enhancing feelings of fullness. Prominent brands of this medication include Ozempic and Mounjaro. For Oshry, the decision to return to these medications post-pregnancy was a well-considered one.

Discussing her experience during pregnancy, Oshry reflected on the pressures many women face regarding body image. She found it reassuring to know that GLP-1 medication would be available once she felt ready to refocus on her health. “As I was pregnant and breastfeeding, I thought, ‘That is waiting for me on the other end,’” she remarked, explaining that this awareness helped her remain present during an often overwhelming time.
In addition to her medication, Oshry highlighted the importance of being proactive about her health. She has partnered with Dulcolax to promote their new campaign encouraging women to focus on gut health. She revealed that she has been a long-time user of Dulcolax products, making this collaboration a perfect fit for her. “I am all about low-lift wellness hacks,” she noted, explaining that the simplicity of including Dulcolax’s Daily Gut Support Gummies in her daily routine aligns with her lifestyle.
As she emerges from the challenges of new motherhood, Oshry has noted significant shifts in her mindset regarding health and self-perception. “People say you start to feel like yourself after three months, but for me, it’s more like eight,” she said, highlighting the adjustment period that comes with motherhood. Now, she feels more grounded and content in her body, stating, “I’ve done a lot and I don’t feel so critical of myself anymore.”
Despite the positive changes, Oshry acknowledges that she still faces moments of self-doubt. However, she believes that motherhood has healed parts of her body image struggles. “Now I look at my body and I think, ‘Okay, well, slay,’” she remarked. This newfound confidence is a significant shift from her previous feelings of dissatisfaction.
Oshry also addressed the criticism often directed towards GLP-1 medications, recognising that while some misuse these drugs for weight loss, the majority of users, including herself, benefit greatly from them. “I feel like it’s popular to hate it,” she explained. “But we’re not talking about the people whose lives are changing, who can for the first time in years take their kids to the park.” This perspective underscores her commitment to sharing her honest experience with her followers.
Looking to the future, Oshry remains undecided about the long-term continuation of her GLP-1 medication, stating she prefers to take her health journey day by day. This cautious approach reflects her intention to maintain a balance between self-acceptance and proactive health management.
As a role model for many, Claudia Oshry’s candidness about her postpartum journey and commitment to low-pressure wellness practices resonates. As she creates a space for honesty about body image and mental health, she reinforces the notion that embracing one’s body whilst navigating motherhood can be a rewarding experience.
