The body of a young man who fell into the Merrimack River in New Hampshire has been recovered following an extensive search operation over the weekend. Jeremiah Willey, a 25-year-old resident of Allenstown, was reported missing after he was believed to have accidentally entered the river from a nearby railroad bridge in Hooksett.

According to authorities, police received notifications regarding Willey’s fall at approximately 7:08 p.m. on Saturday evening. Witnesses indicated that Willey was seen struggling to remain afloat before disappearing beneath the surface. The alarming situation prompted a rapid response from emergency services and local law enforcement.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, search efforts were mobilised, employing various methods to locate Willey. Authorities utilised boats and drones, including those fitted with thermal imaging technology, to assist in the search. Furthermore, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Dive Team was also dispatched, equipped with sonar devices and professional divers prepared for aquatic searches.
As night fell on Saturday, rescue operations were halted temporarily due to a lack of visibility, but they resumed early the following day, around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. At approximately 9:15 a.m., divers successfully recovered a body from the river, which was later confirmed to be Willey’s.
Friends of Willey, including a companion named Christian Hall, recounted that he had been drinking near the bridge prior to the tragic incident. Reports suggest that Willey may have lost his balance, leading to his accidental plunge into the river.
Authorities have stated that, at this time, there are no indications of foul play surrounding Willey’s death. Nevertheless, they have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident fully.
