A couple from West Michigan, Jon and Annie Newell, have celebrated their first wedding anniversary in a memorable way that reflects their love for minor league baseball. The pair returned to LMCU Ballpark, the venue where they marked the beginning of their journey together, by throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a Whitecaps game.

The couple’s wedding weekend kicked off last year with the special honour of throwing the first pitch at the Whitecaps’ season opener. “As I walked toward the mound, I just thought, ‘Throw a strike,’” Jon recalled. Annie confessed that her mind was occupied with the phrase, “Don’t mess up,” as she prepared to take her turn on the mound.
The couple’s joyous moment was proudly showcased on the big screen, with the words “bride” and “groom” appearing below their names. Their friends and family, who had gathered to witness the occasion, cheered enthusiastically from the stands.
