Hans Hamilton was attacked after he spotted a car accident on the 429 Expressway, close to the well-known Walt Disney World, on 30th March. The confrontation was recorded by the camera embedded in Hamilton’s Tesla, providing crucial evidence of the events that unfolded.

Hamilton’s intentions were altruistic when he decided to lend assistance to the driver, who was later identified as 44-year-old Daniel Coman. In a heartfelt appeal on a GoFundMe page set up to cover his medical and vehicle-related expenses, Hamilton recounted the harrowing details of the incident. “On what started as a normal day, I saw someone who appeared to be in a car accident and stopped to help, wanting to do the right thing. Instead, I was attacked, my car was destroyed, and my life was put in danger,” he stated.

The video footage reveals a tense sequence of events. It shows Coman lying on the grass next to his vehicle after having struck a guardrail. When Hamilton approached to offer help, Coman aggressively jumped onto the hood of Hamilton’s Tesla and proceeded to kick the windshield. The attack quickly escalated, with Coman delivering several punches to Hamilton as he attempted to defend himself outside the vehicle.

The situation took a turn when a deputy from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene shortly after the altercation began. The deputy’s account, documented in an arrest affidavit obtained by the media, described Coman as confrontational and aggressive. The deputy stated that Coman approached him with hostility and displayed threatening behaviour, prompting further intervention.

Despite the chaos, the deputy, with the assistance of Hamilton and another bystander, managed to subdue Coman. As a result of his aggressive actions, Coman was charged with multiple offences, including battery against a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, assault on an officer, and criminal mischief.

Following the violent encounter, both Hamilton and Coman were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Hamilton sustained significant injuries, including four broken ribs, a brain bleed, and multiple contusions, in addition to suffering a concussion. The damage to his Tesla was extensive, leading him to conclude that the vehicle was likely a total loss.
