Maxim Naumov Expresses Gratitude for Support After Parents’ Tragic Death in D.C. Crash

Maxim Naumov, the 23-year-old figure skater, recently took to Instagram to convey his heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of support he has received in the wake of the devastating loss of his parents, Evgenia “Zhenya” Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, who tragically perished in the American Airlines plane crash. In a poignant message, Maxim expressed, “I am truly at a loss for words to express the depth of my gratitude and love for each and every one of you.” He went on to share that the overwhelming expressions of love and kindness from friends, fans, and well-wishers have provided him with the strength to face each day.
During the Legacy on Ice event on March 2, Maxim emotionally honoured his late parents, who were revered World Figure Skating pairs champions, in a touching tribute. As he performed on the ice, visibly moved by the support surrounding him, Maxim shared a touching post on Instagram, expressing how each embrace, message, call, and prayer has profoundly touched his heart, conveying his immense gratitude for the compassion and generosity bestowed upon him during this challenging period.
The figure skater reflected on the significance of the support he has received from his community, acknowledging that their unwavering presence in his life during this difficult time means more to him than words can convey. The funds raised during the Legacy on Ice event, organised at the Capital One Arena, were dedicated to supporting the families of the victims and the first responders who bravely attended to the aftermath of the crash. The young skater had participated in the U.S. National Championships just days before the tragic incident, where he clinched the fourth position in the senior men’s competition.
