In a shocking turn of events, United States authorities have announced the arrest of eight individuals, including well-known rappers Pooh Shiesty and Big30, in connection with an alleged kidnapping and robbery incident centred around Gucci Mane. The alleged crime took place during a business meeting at a Dallas music studio in January.
The announcement, made by Ryan Raybould, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, took place during a press conference held on April 2. According to Raybould, the incident involved a group of nine individuals who “kidnapped and robbed numerous people at gunpoint.” So far, eight of these suspects have been apprehended in cities including Dallas, Memphis, and Nashville.
The list of arrested suspects comprises Pooh Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr., Big30, born Rodney Lamont Wright Jr., and several others, including Pooh Shiesty’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., and Kedarius Waters, Terrance Rodgers, Damarian Gipson, Demarcus Glover, Kordae Johnson, and Darrion McDaniel.
Details of the alleged incident reveal that, on January 10, Pooh Shiesty invited three professionals from the music industry to the studio in Dallas to discuss contract negotiations. However, the meeting took a dark turn when Shiesty and his co-conspirators executed what authorities described as a “coordinated armed takeover.” Victims were reportedly threatened with firearms, and one individual was forced to sign a release form under duress.
Raybould described a terrifying scene, stating that the assailants not only brandished weapons but also robbed the victims of valuable items such as Rolex watches, jewellery, and cash. In a particularly alarming detail, one victim was choked to the brink of unconsciousness by one of the suspects. Pooh Shiesty allegedly obstructed the studio door with his body to prevent anyone from escaping during the robbery.
At the time of the incident, Pooh Shiesty was reportedly on home detention due to a previous firearms conspiracy conviction related to a case in the Southern District of Florida. The complaint further alleges that his father played a role in planning and executing the kidnapping. Strikingly, just hours after the alleged robbery, some defendants appeared on social media displaying items believed to have been stolen from the victims.
“This case should serve as a warning to others who believe that using violence and intimidation tactics to rob others in our community is a viable way to conduct business,” Raybould stated emphatically. He underscored the commitment of law enforcement to bring individuals engaging in such criminal activities to justice.
